IIIT employees call for protest against increments from today

Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies is in yet another problem with the teaching and non teaching staff issuing notice to the management to commence protest for increments and salary hike from today at three of its locations in Basara, Nuzvid and Idupulpaya.

The staff, who waited patiently till date could no longer tolerate the delay and hence called for the protest at the venues. It since some time that there was dissatisfaction among the members over the pay packets. The situation worsened when the staffs become aggressive over the negligence of the management, over their demands. The prestigious University inaugurated in 2008, by the former Chief Minister Late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was into turmoil on various issues from the beginning, most importantly on the admissions issues. With the latest developments the future of the students looks quite gloomy.

It may be noted In March of 2008, the AP Government created RGUKT by an act of the Legislature as a full-fledged university which would initially admit roughly the top 1% of the rural students into the three residential campuses.  The first batch of about 6,500 tenth class graduates was admitted into a six year integrated program in August of 2008. The initial selection was based on the local best model where students receiving the top marks in every subject were selected.
