After the Telangana political JAC leaders had intervened and requested them to give up their mass indefinite fast in view of their failing health, the fasting OU students broke their fast Thursday evening giving relief to everyone.
While 200 students began their en masse fast on July 11 demanding steps to create Telangana state, most of them withdrew the fast after two days due to their inability to continue. On Thursday morning, nearly 20 students were shifted to hospitals as they fell unconscious.
Even after that, 80 students continued their fasting but doctors said most of them were likely to fall unconscious any time. Later, on the request of the university officials, political JAC leaders held talks with the students and convinced them into giving up their fast. The students finally gave up their fast around 7 PM.
