100 trains cancelled during rail blockade

ScRlystationFollowing a 3-day rail blockade called by the Telangana Political JAC effective Wednesday as part of the on-going mass general strike, the railway authorities had cancelled more than 100 train services across Telangana from tomorrow.

The authorities first said they would run the services with police escort and warned the agitators of serious action in case the train services are disrupted. However, they later changed their mind and announced cancellation of train services during the three days.

Officials said they had cancelled 59 express and 42 passenger trains as a precautionary measure in view of the proposed blocking of railway tracks.

In addition to the above, they also said another 40 express trains would be partially cancelled for the three days and as many as 70 trains would be diverted, 11 re-scheduled and five regulated.

All DHMU (Diesel Hydraulic Multiple Unit) trains have also been cancelled, they said. However, MMTS (Multi-Modal Transport System) services or local trains in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad will be operated between Hyderabad and Lingampally, and Secunderabad and Lingampally.

The MMTS trains between Hyderabad and Secunderabad, and Secunderabad and Falaknuma stand cancelled.
