Mehrajuddin Dand who was allegedly involved in the hijack of the Kandahar flight IC 814, had mentioned that he had maintained a nexus with Dawood Ibrahim and his sibling. Mehrajuddin would be in the custody of the police for four days. The police have already recovered a diary and few other documents which would provide definitive evidence and more details regarding the case.

The accused was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Souces mentioned that he was working since 1993. He has started residing in Nepal under a Hindu name who also married. He has also worked for several years for the IC-814 hijack accused Arshad Cheema, a Pakistan Diplomat who was in Kathmandu, Nepal. Mehrajuddin had moved to Jammu and Kashmir recently following an undisclosed illness.

Apart from plotting the hijack he was also accused for his involvement in the 1996 Lajpat Nagar blasts in Delhi. Police mentioned that he was closely connected with the United Jihad Council chief Syed Salahuddin apart from the Mumbai-based underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim.
