Flight serivices unaffected by the power outages

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport had no interruption of services even after the power supply was snappeed for the second day in a row after North grid collapse.

Electricity supply stops at 1:04 pm but fortunately due to the diesel power generators there was no disruption of power at the airport. No cancellations or delays were made as the power restored back in less than a minute a spokesperson said.

DIAL has arranged extensive backup facilities for power apart from multiple redundancies.

"Diesel power sets are being used to run all facilities at the airport and discom's power will be used once it is restored and frequencies checked for aberrations," the spokesperson said.

Even on the first day of collapse there were no delays or other kinds of interruption to the services. The installed backup power can supply upto 59.5 MW which is over the actual usage load at the airport.
