Turkey closes all the checkpoints on the Syrian border

The Turkis government, starting Wednesday, has closed all the checkpoints it has along the border of Syria. The news was announced by the minister for customs and trade Hayati Yazici today in a press meet.
"All checkpoints along the Syrian border are closed starting today," he said according to the local NTV television.
Turkey however extended its generosity by presenting a new package of sanctions agians the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad, the TV channel said. Insurgents in Syria have launched numerous attacks over the past few days on the border points of Turkey and a few of them were also launched on Iraq's border.
Turkey and Syria share a border of over 900 Km and there are 13 checkpoints along the border. The sanctions proposed by the government of Turkey would include truck traffic but not the refugees who flee from Syria into Turkey. 45,000 refugees have already taken shelter in Turkey who fled fearing the ongoing civil war.

A few reports have said that Turkey has planned on building refugee camps for the Sryian refugees along the borders.
