Retired General Deepak Kapoor and Defence Ministry take different stands on Adarsh Scam

Deepak Kapoor's statements have been contradicting with those issued by the Defence ministy on the issue of the Adarsh Housing Society Scam.

Testifying on oath before the 2 member judicial commission which is conducting an investigation relating to the scam, retired General Deepak Kapoor has said that Adarsh building didn't pose security threats to the adjacent defence installation as compared to the other taller buildings in the same area.

Retired General Deepak Kapoor had dismembered himself from the Adarsh membership after the scam became public on the news.

The former Defence personnel are now deposing on the judicial panel who are conducting a probe in the Adarsh Society Scandal.

Lt General GS Sihota had reported that the land involved in the scam is not owned by the Ministry of Defence but the defence has always stated that the Adarsh Society was build on their land after encroaching it.

The government has also started an individual probe on the scam after it became a national issue. The judicial commission of the government of Maharashtra has started and investigation to find the details of the ownership of the land and if it was reserved for the heroes of the Kargil War.

A report which was submitted before the complete probe had speculated that the land might belong to the government. Three former chief ministers of Maharashtra - Ashok Chavan, Sushilkumar Shinde and Vilasrao Deshmukh - too have confirmed that the land was owned by the government of Maharashtra.
