No money to buy Rafale combat aircraft: Antony

Union Defence minister AK Antony on Thursday said his ministry is short of money to buy Rafale combat aircraft for this year and have to wait for the next financial year for sufficient funds. Inaugurating Defexpo 2014 at Pragati Maidan, Antony said there is no money left as 92 percent of the Defence ministry budget was spent and all major projects have to wait till April 1.

About 126 Rafale combat aircraft of French Dassault Aviation from France is expected to cost around Rupees 60,000 crore and the Defence Minister is very watchful on the deal as any negligence would lead to corruption charges. Antony is hopeful that this deal would be finalized for the year 2014-15.
