The changes made in tatkal ticketing system by Indian Railway came into effect from today (July 10). A few passengers, who were not aware of the recently announced changes in the system, reportedly had no clue as to why they were not able to book the tickets even after 8.30 AM. Well, in order to put a check to the irregularities in the tatkal issuing, the Indian Railway decided to open tatkal tickets only after 10 AM unlike 8 AM earlier. This would be issued just a day in advance.
The new changes also prevent the travel agents from booking tatkal tickets between 10 AM and 12 PM from the Internet and counters too. Unlike before, the new counters are opened for tatkal and all those standing in queues would be recorded with CCTV cameras. Owing to the complaints that people with low internet connectivity are finding it tough for booking tickets online for tatkal, the Indian Railway from today increased the bandwidth of IRCTC website from 344 MBPS to 450 MBPS. While travel agents can book only one ticket and that too after 12 PM, the individuals are limited to two tickets online.
