Indian Railways Announces a Clone Train Scheme:- With the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic, the train services are put on hold for months. The Indian Railways resumed the services and they have been running limited trains from the past couple of months. Considering the huge demand in the specific routes, the Ministry of Railways announced 20 pairs of clone trains from September 21st. These trains will be in addition to the 310 special trains that are currently being operated in the country. The 'Clone Train Scheme' has been introduced to transport the waitlisted passengers to their desired destination. These trains will operate as an alternative to the current existing trains when the regular trains are having a huge number of waitlisted passengers.

Indian Railways introduced 20 new pairs of trains as of now and they would be increased in the future as per the demand. The Indian Railways analyzed the occupancy in some of the routes and took this call today. These trains get passengers who are waitlisted in the regular trains. This concept of clone trains was shelved a decade ago. These trains will accept only waitlisted passengers who already booked tickets for other trains in the same route.

"Considering the huge demand for travel on specific routes, the Ministry of Railways has decided to run 20 pairs of Clone Special trains from 21.09.2020. These Clone trains will run on notified timings. ARP for these trains will be 10 days" posted the Ministry of Railways.
