The legendary ghazal singer Mehedi Hassan passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital due to multiple organ failure. He was 84. The expiry of ghazal legend was confirmed by his son Aarif Hassan on Wednesday noon.

Mehedi Hassan, a Pakistani national, is known world wide for his excellence in ghazal singing. He was admitted to a hospital a few days ago over the complaints of fatigue and uneasyness. The doctors today confirmed him clinically dead after his organs failed.

Mehedi Hassan has crores of fans in India and Pakistan. On knowing the death news of the ghazal legend, lakhs of people from India and Pakistan reached Agha Khan hospital in Karachi to give a royal send-off to their role model.

Mehedi Hassan was born in a remote village in Rajasthan of undivided India and migrated to Pakistan later.
