Pakistan Quietly Removes 18000 Terrorists From Watch List:- Pakistan quietly removed 1800 terrorists from the watch list of the country during this coronavirus pandemic. Mumbai attack mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi who happens to be the LeT operations commander's name also went missing from the list. A US-based startup revealed the news and this happened before a new round of assessment by the FATF, the global anti-money-laundering watchdog. The list was maintained by the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) from Pakistan. The list had 7600 names in 2008 and it now reached 3800 told Castellum, a regulatory technology company that is based in New York, USA.

From the beginning of March this year,  1800 names got removed as per the reports from Castellum. These are implemented after FATF recommended the removal of their names. Pakistan received a low rating of effectiveness from FATF about the financing for terrorism. FATF will again evaluate the progress in June this year. Pakistan is placed in the grey list of FATF. Pakistan is avoiding to be added in the list of nations that are into anti-money-laundering and terrorist financing. They fear that this could spoil their economy after which Pakistan headed to remove the names of the terrorists from the list.
