UP CM's wife Dimple files nomination for Kannuj by-polls

On Tuesday June 6, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife has filed her nomination papers for Kannauj by-polls.

After filing nominations, Dimple mentioned that, " As I am being a chief minister's wife, I am the best option to work for the people of this area.

It will be Dimple's second attempt to enter the Lok Sabha. She had contested the 2009 Firozabad by-election, but lost to Congress candidate Raj Babbar.

The Kannauj parliamentary constituency fell vacant after Akhilesh Yadav resigned from the Lok Sabha on being sworn in as a member of the UP Legislative Council and after becoming the State's chief minister.

Kannauj is considered a safe seat for Dimple, as Akhilesh Yadav has represented it thrice.

June 6 is the last date for filing nominations and the last date for withdrawl is June 9 and the counting of votes has been scheduled on June 27th.
