Oprah’s guards manhandle press, condemnable

Gaga over Oprah Winfrey just reminds, whether we are stiff having the colonial feeling, impressing the west was always our fancy.

The maiden visit of the world’s most popular chat Queen Oprah Winfrey to India set the country on fire. Fans’ going gaga, over the Chat hostess was evident at the elite gathering at all her venues. The chat queen is in the country, for her show "Oprah's Next Chapter." She is to interview many celebrities and shoot the aesthetic beauty of Jaipur during the visit. But the visit was not all that nice for the press that was following the great lady all around. The talk show Queen's journey on Thursday turned sour as her Bodyguards entered into a scuffle with the Media but that didn't dampen the spirit of her trip. Nobody was hurt in the scuffle but costly camera equipment of a local TV channel was damaged in the tussle.

The chat Queen was at Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh at around 9am on Thursday. She was on a visit to Ma Dham a home for widows, along with her entourage comprising two American security men and a dozen local bodyguards. As TV and Print media journalists were trying to follow the celebrity into the Ashram, her bodyguards resisted the press from entering. Tension prevailed for some time and the rough up some camera equipment was damaged. "Media men and those from TV channels with cameras were manhandled by those in charge of the security of Oprah Winfrey and police had to intervene," said a journalist from a Hindi daily.

No one was hurt, but some camera equipment reportedly suffered damage in the incident and the angry reporter ended up throwing stones at the men. Consequently, police briefly detained three of Winfrey's security guards, who were released after they wrote a letter of apology to the media.   (With inputs from Internet) (AarKay)
