Bangladeshi finds Mumbai windows lucrative for robbing

The prospective plans of a Bangladeshi were revealed during interrogation. An unsuccessful plumber from Bangladesh set his eyes on Mumbai and sneaked in, to use his skills in the negative way. Using his plumbing skills, he climbed the pipe lines and tried his hand at robbing. His initial attempt into India in 2009 was futile when he was caught and deported. Later in 2011 he returned on a tourist visa and resumed his activity. But in one such event caught by the Mumbai police and was put behind bars. He also planned to marry a local girl to get permanent resident-ship. The plumber was Anwar Fazulu Rehman Khan from Bangladesh.

Sub Inspector Milind Kate of VP Road police station detailed Khan’s activity, `On November 17, he climbed up a drainage pipe to reach the first floor, where Kedari had left a window open to let in fresh air. When he peeped in, he found a pant hanging by the window. Seeing a perfect opportunity, he swiftly checked its pockets and with great agility, removed three cell phones and Rs 4,300 from the pant, and slid down smoothly.’ But when questioned about his late walk out by night patrol, he fumbled, which led to his arrest.

Inspector Kate also said, `whenever Khan found a window open, he would expertly climb up the pipe, grab at whatever valuables he found lying near open windows, and slide back down.’ Khan has been remanded in police custody till November 25.

He added, `We have learnt that Khan was planning to marry an Indian girl from Mira Road in order to get Indian citizenship, so he could not be deported again.’
