Second ODI in Sri Lanka, India move in with confidence

The second ODI at Hambantota in Sri Lanka is scheduled for the day and India move in with confidence. After the colossal damage to the home team in the first ODI where India won with a 21-runs lead at the same venue. Sri Lanka might plan more aggressively to register their maiden victory in the series while India would like to retain their form. On Monday the Lankan Skipper Mahela Jayawardene said that the Lankans are probing a way to deal with Virat Kohli, who devastated them in the Saturday encounter.

"I think initially when he started his career we picked his wicket quickly," home team skipper said. "But like any good player he has come up with a game plan and he is executing that pretty well. Just the last few occasions he has got more confident against our bowling attack. It's up to us now to come up with a game plan." Jayawardene said his teammates were analyzing the mistakes they made in the match and hope to come back in the series.

Sri Lanka's most consistent new-ball bowler in recent times, Nuwan Kulasekara is out of the series with a groin injury sustained while trying to attempt a catch during the first ODI. This could be advantageous for the visitors.

The Probables for this second encounter are:
Sri Lanka: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Angelo Mathews (vice-captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Upul Tharanga, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Thisara Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Lasith Malinga, Chamara Kapugedera, Rangana Herath, Sachithra Senanayake, Jeevan Mendis, Isuru Udana.

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (captain), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli (vice-captain), Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Ravichandran Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Umesh Yadav, Pragyan Ojha, Ajinkya Rahane, Manoj Tiwary, Rahul Sharma, Ashok Dinda.

On the Indian front Gambhir and Rohit Sharma having a starting problem in the first ODI will be advantageous for the home team, if they do not outshine in this match.(With inputs from internet-AW AarKay)
