Day After Sabarimala Opening, Hindu Groups Call For Kerala Shut Down November 17, 2018 12:48

Day After Sabarimala Opening, Hindu Groups Call For Kerala Shut Down:- The protests at the Sabarimala temple against the entry of women of menstruating ages are continuing in and around the hilltop shrine, as the temple reopened to the devotees after the Supreme Court verdict on Friday evening. A rightwing Hindu outfit today has called for a dawn to dusk strike in protest against the arrest of Hindu Aikyavedi KP Sasikala who was on the pilgrimage to Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple. The holy shrine opened on Friday for a two-month-long pilgrimage season. Around 500 women have enrolled themselves to visit the shrine after the Supreme Court in September allowed the entry of women between 10 and 50 years. However, no girl or woman in the previously banned age group could offer prayers up to now following strong opposition by devotees and activists, opposing any change in the temple traditions. On Friday, activist Trupti Desai had to spend an entire day at Kochi airport as she was prevented from leaving the airport by protesters opposing entry of menstrual age women into the Lord Ayyappa shrine. She terminated her attempt after more than 14-hour stand-off. Sabarimala Karma Samithi has called state-wide shutdown today from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in protest against the arrest of Hindu Aikyavedi state president KP Sasikala at Marakkoottam Friday night. She was going to Sannidhanam and was arrested after she protested when police did not allow her to travel at night. By Sowmya

Chandrababu Naidu To Pick Out His Candidates Carefully November 17, 2018 12:41

Chandrababu Naidu To Pick Out His Candidates Carefully:- Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has started his moves for the Legislative Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh for 2019. In a move that could be a spick-and-span sweep of existing sitting MLAs (Member of Legislative Assembly) and a warning shot for senior leaders, Chandrababu is mulling over choosing his candidates cautiously. During a discussion on choosing candidates for Telangana elections, Chandrababu is said to have discussed how sitting MLAs, in general, garner a negative sentiment. According to inside reports, Chandrababu told his partymen that TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao made a mistake by giving tickets to sitting MLAs this time too. Chandrababu opined that most of the TRS candidates who are given tickets this time have many chances of losing. "By doing so, KCR has laid the ground for his own defeat," the TDP supremo said. Then again, he wants to take factors such as negative sentiment against sitting MLAs, execution of MLAs in developing the constituency and reaching out to people while choosing his candidates for 2019. It is heard that he will analyze their performance and only then consider whether a certain MLA or MP (Member of Parliament) deserves the ticket. Seemingly, senior leaders such as Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K.E. Krishnamurthy and Ayyanna Pathrudu will not be given tickets this time. Some of the TDP leaders, however, feel that Chandrababu will use non-performance as a ground to not give tickets to them. According to inside reports, most of the sitting MLAs will be ousted and new faces could be given tickets. However, TDP circles are buzzing with news that some sitting MLAs are of the opinion that CBN is removing them stating non-performance as a reason. Most of the sitting MLAs will be ousted. Some of the seniors also will have to face the music. Some of the MLAs will be changed to Lok Sabha. In addition, some of those who have been allotted Assembly could be shifted to Lok Sabha. TRS Won't Go With BJP Under Any Circumstances: KTR November 17, 2018 12:26

TRS Won't Go With BJP Under Any Circumstances: KTR:- Information technology (IT) and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao has ruled out any kind of alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in future, citing strong ideological differences with the national party. The Minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was the most secular person in the State who is known for his contribution towards constructions of temples and mosques alike. He recalled that the Chief Minister was accountable for construction of Iqbal Minar in Siddipet and stated that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had extended all support to celebrate festivals of all religions as well as extending all government schemes to all sections of society without any bias. The Minister was speaking at Telangana Bhavan on Friday when Congress minority cell leaders led by Abid Rasool Khan and Khaleel Ur Rahman joined the TRS. He said the TRS would play a major role in national politics since the party was confident of winning 16 of 17 Lok Sabha seats in the general elections next year. His comments come amid opposition's assertions that the TRS, which is going it alone in the December 7 Telangana Assembly polls, will join hands with the saffron party after the election. "The rumors that are being spread and allegations being leveled that we will go with the BJP..under any circumstances the TRS party would never go with (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi or the BJP, I promise," Rao said. He further said, the attitude of the TRS and its president has been to see humans as humans, regardless of their religion, unlike others, who treat Muslims or minorities in the country as "voting machines." He expressed confidence that the TRS would return to power in the state with a record majority in the assembly polls. Rao also claimed that the TRS would win 16 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats in the State. "I am also confident that with your blessings and support, we will get 16 out of the 17 parliament seats in Telangana. Who will sit in the chair in Delhi, that also will be decided by the people of Telangana? I promise you that as well," he said. By Sowmya

Kavitha Criticizes Uttam Kumar Over Dynasty Politics November 17, 2018 11:35

Kavitha Criticizes Uttam Kumar Over Dynasty Politics:- Nizamabad Member of Parliament (MP) K Kavitha on Friday mocked TPCC (Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee) President N Uttam Kumar Reddy for accusing the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) of indulging in dynasty politics when he himself had secured ticket for his wife Padmavathi Reddy to contest the Assembly elections. Kavitha challenged him to make his wife retreat from the election fray. "Congress leaders distributed tickets to their kith and kin. Their own party leaders are accusing the senior leadership over seat allotments especially over seats given to the Backward Classes. If there is any moral left in the TPCC president, he must make his wife withdraw her nomination and set an example rather than accusing others of dynasty politics," she said during an informal interaction with media persons at Telangana Bhavan. Kavitha ascertained that the Congress and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) grew an abrupt fondness for Andhra natives who are living in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana State just ahead of the elections. She pointed out that while Kusuma Kumar was granted the post of third working president in TPCC, TDP proposed to field Nandamuri Harikrishna's daughter Suhasini from Kukatpally constituency. "But none of their vote-bank politics will have any impact on the voters in the State. Despite their nativity, people are aware of the welfare and development programmes being implemented by the TRS government. They will vote for TRS and get their elected representatives to work for them," she added. The Nizamabad MP was curious to see Congress president Rahul Gandhi and TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu share the same stage to campaign in the State. She said people were ready to teach an appropriate lesson to the Congress and wipe out the TDP in the State without any rural and urban divide. She stated that TRS had become stronger in south Telangana and would secure all Assembly seats in the erstwhile districts of Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda. "In fact, we need not wonder if TRS crosses the 100 seat mark," Kavitha said. She seemed confident of winning Jagityal constituency and gifting the victory to her father and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. By Sowmya
