Chhattisgarh to honour Women Hockey team Captain SabaExperienced striker Saba Anjum lead an 18-member Indian women's hockey team to Australia this month for a four-match Test series against the hosts followed by a three-nation nine-a-side International Super Series tournament.

The Chhattisgarh government proposed to present the state’s top Gundadhur sports award, to the Indian women Hockey team captain, Saba Anjum, official sources said. The annual award is given to a person who brings honour to the state in sports at national and international levels. It carries a cash prize of Rs.100, 000 and a citation. Anjum, 24, will receive the award Nov 1 here at a function to mark the foundation anniversary of Chhattisgarh, carved out from Madhya Pradesh in 2000.

Saba Anjum Karim, member of the Indian national women`s hockey team, was born on 12th June 1985 in durg district of Chhattisgarh. Her career in the field of Hockey started with the Under 18 AHF Cup in the year 2000, at Hong Kong. As a right wing forward, she has represented India in many other international tournaments, and now leads the country.
