2 months' jail sentence to minister

Minister Parthasarathy was sentenced to two months imprisonment by the special court (which deals financial irregularities) in Nampally for violating FERA regulations. The court has also fined Rs. Five lakh fifteen thousand for the company, K P R Teleproductions where Partha Sarathy used to work as a managing director.  The court held in case the minister fails to pay the fine, he has to face a sentence of ten years. It may be noted that  K P R Teleproductions has imported some infrastructure from foreign countries in 2002. Since Parthasarathy failed to pay the tax in this case, it had amounted to violation of FERA and ED (Enforcement Directorate) plunged into the action, investigated the case and filed a charge sheet on him. The court, which heard the case in 2003, has fined Rs. Three lakh to minister way back in 2003. However, Parthasarathy didn't pay the fine nor attended the court since then. The court, which heard the case today again, has given two months' sentence to Parthasarathy.
