Indo-Russian mixed doubles pair enters finals

Leaving criticism and controversies far behind the Indo-Russian pair enter the finals at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, on Saturday. Fourth seeded Leander Paes and his Russian partner Elena Vesnina embark on an yet another grand slam finals after stunning their American opponents Bob Bryan and Liezel Huber with a tough 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win. The top seded Americans received the shock of their life when they could not match the prowess of the Indo-Russian pair in their Semi Final encounter at the Wimbledon in London. The crucial break in the fourth game to open up a 4-1 lead, played the difference for the winning pair and helped them overpower the Americans.

Paes known for his strong serve and Vesnina for her high agility, played awesomely best to storm their way into the finals of yet another grand slam event. Paes is the only Indian left out in the tournament and all the other Indian tennis stars Mahesh Bhupathi, Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza have crashed out of the tournament. Paes and Vesnina were put to a tough test, but the experienced duo managed to show their class to pull off a victory.

Inspite of wide speculations recently over the selections for the London Olympics, Indian ace Paes played undeterred. This year was his best rate critics. As he had entered the finals with the same partner in the mixed doubles at the Australian Opens, but the duo were only runner ups against Bethanie Mattek-Sands Horia Tecau. However in the Men's Doubles of the same event, Paes completed his Grand Slam hunt with his Czech partner Radek Stepanek.
