Sania, Paes score victories at US Open

This year's US Open is proving to be a test of character with various established and upcoming players having to battle for their place.  Indian's had mixed bag of emotions as Sania Mirza and Leander Paes advanced in the initial rounds with easy wins, while Mahesh Bhupati lost early on in the tournament.

Mahesh Bhupathi did not make it forward after the men's doubles match with Canada's Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil. Leander Paes and partner Radek Stepanek have, however, did not take much effort to break their doubles opponents. Sania Mirza has also found a good pairing with China's Jie Zheng.

Besides the Indian, the US Open is also an emotional tournament for several top seeded players such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams. Venus Williams had vowed to make a strong comeback with these matches after her recent losses. The biggies are giving a hard time to the first timers right now, but their hardships will begin in later rounds.

At the US Open, every round and every win counts.
