13 dead and 54 injured in a train mishap in AP:- In a tragic train accident in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram, 13 people were declared dead and the accident left 54 people injured. The accident took place after a passenger trainer from Rayagada derailed in Vizianagaram district. Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger collided with Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger and three coaches were damaged. A train was arranged to dispatch the passengers from other coaches to Vizag. The rescue operations are currently going on. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy expressed his shock and he will meet the victims today in Vizianagaram district.

The injured passengers are shifted to Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli while some of them are taken to Vizianagar district hospital. The Health, Police and Revenue Departments of Andhra Pradesh are in touch and are overlooking the rescue operations. YS Jaganmohan Reddy announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakhs for the kin of the deceased and Rs 2 lakhs for the people who are severely injured. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw over the phone and inquired about the train accident. The PMO said that the authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected.

The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs for the decased and the injured would be paid Rs 50,000 from the PMNRF.
