Popular music director Yuvan Shankar Raja married a Muslim girl named Zafrunnisa, a Dubai based fashion designer on January 1st 2015. This is Yuvan's third marriage after his earlier two relations ended on a bitter note.  Interestingly, Yuvan's marriage was held in Muslim customs which was attended by only Yuvan's relatives.

However, Yuvan's father Maestro Ilaiyaraaja did not attend the wedding as he was not happy with Yuvan's decision to marry again. The award winning director was also against Yuvan converting the religion. Post the death of his mother, Yuvan Shankar Raja converted into Muslim and during his third wedding he changed his name to Abdul Haliq. Yuvan's wedding was attended by his sister Bhavatharini who was also a music composer. She and her husband blessed the newly married couple.

It was one of Yuvan's friend who suggested him to convert to Muslim religion. Yuvan started reading Quran and doing namaz everyday since then. He converted ti Muslim religion but did not change his name and finally on the occasion of his third wedding, he got his name also changed.
