Retired AU Professor Arrested at RGIA

A retired Andhra University professor was arrested at RGIA for carrying live bullet in his bag. According to the airport officials, P. Krishna Murthy (63) who was returning from the US was caught with a live bullet on Monday.

Police said that the professor was returning after meeting his son. Murthy, hails from Rishikonda in Vizag . Two months ago, he went to the US to meet his son who is working there. On Monday morning, he landed at RGI Airport on an Emirates flight.

“The security personnel at the exit found a live bullet, suspected to be used in a 9 mm pistol, hidden in his baggage,” inspector Mahesh said.

 The professor admitted that while in the US, he had collected some old clothes to distribute to poor people in Vizag and the bullet was found in one of the clothing. A case was booked against him and he will be produced in court. The bullet was sent to forensic lab for analysis.
