Cabinet Committee discusses Telangana

Cabinet Committee discusses Telangana Jolted by the mass resignations of the congress and TDP MLAs of the Telangana region demanding separate state, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh convened an emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs this evening and discussed the Telangana issue.

The details of the meeting are not made public but sources said that the members of the Committee also discussed the long pending issue of the removal of 14 F from the Presidential reference on the zones. After a thorough discussion, the committee decided to remove the 14 F but asked the AP state assembly to pass a resolution again and send it to the Centre.

All members of the committee Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Chidambaram, Sharad Pawar, Veerappa Moily, Dr Farookh Abdulla and Dayanidhi Maran attended the meeting presided over by the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmad said in Delhi that there won’t be any problem to the UPA government just because 9 members of the Lok Sabha had resigned. Echoing the similar sentiments, Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, in charge of the AP congress affairs, also said there is no constitutional crisis in the state following the resignations of the Telangana congress MLAs.
