Kiran to stay, no decision yet on PCC chief Even as the congress high command made it clear that CM Kirankumar reddy would not be changed, it indicated of steps being taken to change his working style to ensure unity in the party in the state.
 
The party leadership is also planning to appoint a Deputy CM from Telangana while it has not yet taken a decision on the appointment of new PCC chief. While the names of Ministers Kanna Lakshminarayana, Botsa Satyanarayana of the coastal region and D. Sridhar Babu and senior leader Sambani Chandrasekhar of the Telangana region are being considered for the new PCC chief post, Kiran is said to be opposing the candidature of Botsa Satyanarayana with the fear that he may become another power centre in the congress party.

Reports said that Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy has thrown his weight around Sambhani Chandrasekhar while Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva rao is opposing the candidature of Kanna.  Rayapati has reportedly informed the party high command that Kanna is unfit for the post of the PCC chief.

Most of the leaders who have met the Union Minister and in-charge of the congress affairs in the state Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad advised him to give importance to Telangana in the wake of the Telangana agitation.

Reports said today that congress has decided not to accept the demand for Telangana state but provide economic and political packages for Telangana region to cool down the temperatures in the region.

Meanwhile, the congress party has also decided to speed up the merger of PRP with it and initiated action in this direction. After the merger formalities are over, the high command will announce measures to deal with the threat of YSR Congress president YS Jaganmohan reddy.
