UPA likely to call for consensus on Prez candidate?

Presidential elections this time has gained lot of momentum since many parties are apparently confused on who the President should be as UPA landed Pranab Mukherjee, who happens to the first presidential candidate who faces allegations of irregularities. It is known that social crusader Anna Hazare's team termed Pranab as unfit to assume the office of the President since he happens to be one among the ministers who is accused of alleged irregularities in coal block allocations.

NDA, the main opposition at the Centre, too hasn't told anything. While BJP strongly wanted Abdul  Kalam to contest presidential elections, Kalam opted out of the race leaving the party in a confusion. Whether it would support Sanghma or declare that it would extent its support to Pranab Mukherjee has become a topic of the town. On the other hand, BJP MP Maneka Gandhi said Pranab was an excellent candidate.

Maneka Gandhi, who already expressed her wish, much before NDA coming out with a clear cut statement on presidential candidate is reflecting that party the main opposition itself is divided on the issue. She has also stressed that presidential election should be made by a consensus.

Above all, UPA is known for not hurting anyone in the political circles even when it takes a decision related to public at large and presidential election merely deals with political circles. So, will UPA plunge into consensus on the presidential candidate? Will it try to achieve that there would be no division in the parties on presidental candidate? The political analysts said yes otherwise UPA would most likely lose its importance.
