Pranab Mukherjee took to twitter to inform the news saying, "On a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID19 today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19". Indian Home Minister Amit Shah, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa are the others who are tested positive with coronavirus.

Several MLAs, ministers and MPs from the Telugu states are tested positive with coronavirus. Pranab Mukherjee is doing fine and he got admitted to a private hospital as a precautionary measure. The total number of coronavirus cases in the country crossed 22 lakhs and the new cases are increasing at a rapid speed. As per the reports from the Union Health Ministry, there are 6,34,945 active cases in the state and 44,386 people passed away in the country because of the pandemic. The recovery rate got increased in the country in the recent weeks and lakhs of people recovered completely from the pandemic.
