Rape victim's family welcomes Tharoor's ideas

Following Shashi Tharoor's tweet that the Delhi rape victim should be honoured and that she would received such an honour only when the anti rape law is named after her, the parents of the victim have today told the media that they won't have any objection if anti rape law is revised and named after their 23-year-old daughter, who was brutally raped and murdered by six persons on December 16 night.

In fact, Andhra Wishesh long back supported (when the girl breathed her last) the idea that there should be a legislation named after Delhi gang rape victim. Thanks to Shashi Tharoor for getting the same idea as it really served the purpose. It's a good thing to note that the parents of victim too welcomed the idea.  Anyway, the sources from home ministry said that there's no provision in the penal code to name a law after a person.

As per the present Indian Penal Code 228-A, no one should disclose the identity of victims of certain offences. And whosoever publishes or prints the name of the victim (rape and other offenses) would be punished with an imprisonment of two years to which a fine may be added to.
