A minister from Akhilesh Yadav's cabinet has resorted to kindapping a medical officer of Gonda, S P Singh and two clerks to the medical officer on Monday night, pressing the officer to appoint two doctors on contract for the district's government hospitals.

The CMO had managed to escape the kidnappers on Monday immediately sought the help from the chief of the district police. He was shifted to Lucknow and offered protection of security retinue headed by an additional district magistrate (ADM) rank officer.

The accused minister however had denied the allegations saying he had no role to play. The incident is reminiscent of Mayawati's regime where a MLA of BSP, Auraiyya had kidnapped a Nirman Nigam engineer and tortured him to death. The engineer was tortured for money as the MLA had been pressing him for money which he wanted to present to the chief minister on her birthday.

Mayawati however had taken quick steps to seek legal action against the cold-blooded attitude of the MLA. Akhilesh Yadav has not yet reacted to the case though principal secretary (Home) R K Srivastava and director general (DG) Medical Health were both notified on the night of Monday, three days ago.
