Mulayam Singh Defends Amar Singh, Shivpal Yadav

After Akhilesh Yadav sacked Shivpal Yadav from the cabinet, Samajwadi Party supreme Mulayam Singh Yadav has defended Amar Singh by calling him his ‘brother’ and Shivpal Yadav as a ‘mass leader’.

However, the SP chief has made it clear that Akhilesh Yadav will remain in the party.

Although Mulayam Singh Yadav said that party has been facing difficult circumstances and party members should not fight with each other, the heated words exchanged on the dais and the meeting has to be closed on an abrupt end.

The feud between the son and the father seems to have increased as both were found shouting at each other at the meeting, reports said. Supporters also clashed with each other outside the venue, which gave a tough time to the police.

According to the reports, in the meeting Mulayam Singh Yadav, while addressing legislators, MPs and ministers, said, “I can't tolerate anything against Amar and Shivpal. Amar saved me from going to jail.”

Speaking on Amar Singh. SP chief said, “Amar has helped me a lot. If Amar was not there I would have been in jail, he is like my brother.”

He futher added, “Some ministers are just sycophants," he added. "I cannot forget the work done by Shivpal Yadav. We are facing difficult situation, we should remove our weakness and not fight with each other.”

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had made it clear that he is ready to resign if his father, Mulayam Singh, says so. He further added that he was hurt when his father removed him as a party chief.

Dismissing reports of planning a new party, Akhilesh Yadav said, “People are saying a new party will be formed. Who is forming a new party? I am not.”

However Shivpal Yadav said later that Akhilesh had told him about floating a new party. Shivpal said, “Akhilesh Yadav had said to me that he will form another party, he said it, he said it to me. We can not tolerate liars in SP, we just can't.”
