Kolkata's first private university inaugurated by Mamatha Banarjee

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamatha Banarjee has inaugurated the first private university of the state on Tuesday.

The Techno India University is the first private university of West Bengal. She said that their government has passed a bill in the assembly within just 7 days for the reason of having a private university. There were at least three universities that were sprung up in the past year. Techno India University at Rajarhat would be the newest addition to the universities established in the past year joining the likes of Kazi Nazrul University in Asansole, Panchanan Barman University in Coochbehar, the CM said.

She also mentioned Hidco while talking of the new prospective ecotourism park that would sprawl in an area of 450 acres of waterbodies. She also said that the work of the tourism park would be expedited to finish it as soon as posible while talking to the Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim and the chairman cum managing director of Hidco, Debashis Sen.

Cornerstone for the New Town  police's new Police Station had been laid today on the occasion. She had emphasized on the importance of sufficient greenery in the state and said that over one crore plantations were planned to be planted in the state in Rajarhat and Kolkata.
