Skipping meals increases belly fat, study revealed May 22, 2015 13:10

Zero size is one of the most desired figure for every women. But dieting is not the best and healthy way to achieve it. The researchers have found that skipping meals can ultimately result in abdominal weight gain. “This does support the notion that small meals throughout the day can be helpful for weight loss, though that may not be practical for many people," said senior author of the study Martha Belury, professor of human nutrition at The Ohio State University in the US."But you definitely do not want to skip meals to save calories because it sets your body up for larger fluctuations in insulin and glucose and could be setting you up for more fat gain instead of fat loss," Belury explained.During the research, the mice that ate all of their food as a single meal and fasted the rest of the day developed insulin resistance in their livers. When the liver does not respond to insulin signals telling it to stop producing glucose, that extra sugar in the blood is stored as fat. These mice initially were put on a restricted diet and lost weight compared to controls that had unlimited access to food. The restricted-diet mice regained weight as calories were added back into their diets and nearly caught up to controls by the study's end. But the fat near the abdomen area which is equivalent to human belly fat weighed more in the restricted diet mice than the other mice that were free to nibble all day long. So, experts suggest skipping meals to loose weight is not a healthy way as it actually increases belly fat. By Lizitha

Are you doing these eyebrow mistakes? July 21, 2014 18:15

Your eyebrows frame your face. Hence, it's important they always stay nicely trimmed and ship-shape. However, when it comes to caring for them, most of us never go beyond the normal threading or tweezing. Remember that to maintain your arches, you must go beyond the regular and invest some thought and care to keep your eyebrows looking great all through. We acquaint you with some common eyebrow mistakes and how to deal with them. Wax or thread brows While waxing and threading are great ways of cleaning up body or chin hairs, it isn't quite right for eyebrows. While waxing round makes your face appear older, threading done by a beautician often leaves us with less than desired results. Tweeze it out Tweezing now and then is another no-no brow maintenance strategy. One must tweeze not mot more than a couple of hairs to keep the arches ship-shape. If you wait for a week or two, there will be new hairs sprouting everywhere, making it difficult for you to tweeze right. Also, try tweezing between taking a shower and putting on your makeup. Matching brow color to hair color The only people who can really get away with this are ladies with dark hair. For those with lighter colored mane, you should be matching your brows to those lighter strands. By making your brows lighter-with a brow mascara, for example-your eyes will really pop. If you're a blonde with fair to medium skin, it's the opposite rule. Look for the absolute darkest lowlight of your hair, and match that. (AW: Suchorita Choudhury)

Three biggest face-washing mistakes you are doing June 16, 2014 16:51

Rinsing you face with just a dollop of face wash at the end of the day might seem like the easiest part of your beauty ritual, isn't it? But turns out that most people tend to lather up wrongly, causing a wad of skin woes like dryness, oiliness, breakouts and irritation. Learn the three face-washing mistakes that you are committing and ways to stop them at once. Read on. Picking the wrong facewash Yes, this is the number one mistake that most of us make - not picking the right cleanser. A right face wash would remove all the grub and grime off your face without striping away your skin's natural oil's or healthy cells. Get one that does the job and cleanse your face twice a day, scrubbing a little strongly to cleanse it thoroughly. Overdoing it Don't wash your skin more than twice in a day. Going overboard with your cleaning process could irritate your skin, leading to over production of oil. In case you are someone who barely uses any make up in the evening, rinsing with tepid water is enough to clean it. Wrong Temperature No matter how good hot water feels on your skin, rinsing your skin with it can strip its natural, protective oils and lead or over-drying or over-production of sebums. Lukewarm water is your best bet that way. (AW: Suchorita Choudhury)

How to sweat-proof your makeup? June 13, 2014 18:38

Think summer and runny make-up goes hand in hand? Not any more. Save yourself from sweating off your makeup on a hot muggy day by sweat-proofing your pretty face. Here's how: Go Light Moisturize your skin religiously with a light, SPF loaded moisturizer everyday. Steer clear of the ones that are too heavy as it will make you sweat. Serums are your best bet during summer since they are light, gets easily absorbed and makes your skin look hydrated and fresh round the clock. Put on Some Primer During hot summer days, primer is your friend.  Dab some before you put on a foundation. That way, your make-up won't run down when it's hot. Primer, together with your moisturizer, is recommended if you decide to wear waterproof makeup. If moisturizer, primer, and foundation sound like too much of a hassle, go for BB cream with SPF, which is like an all-in-one. Waterproof on the Eyes Invest in waterproof eye liner and mascara to avoid drippy eye makeup. Go Wet on the Lips During summer, lipsticks are a no-no since they run the risk of smudging. Hold your lip color by applying a dash of gloss. Easy enough! Dab Some Powder Dab your  makeup with some  mineral powder to keep it in place, smoothen out the skin, and also absorb oil. And you are all set to go, princess! (AW: Suchorita Choudhury)
