Former Indian cricket team member Mohammad Kaif has began his political innings. Kaif will be contesting in the Lok Sabha elections from historical Phulpur constituency on behalf of Congress party. He joined the Congress recently in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and was given ticket for the Lok Sabha polls.

Responding after naming in the list of candidates Kaif said, “I was born and brought up in Allahabad. I have played cricket in the streets of this city. People looked at me with pride when I played for India. I am hopeful that they will support me.”
