Youtube launches new blurring tool for the uploaders

The popular video website, YouTube has unveiled a new tool on their site for the convenience of the uploaders, a blurring tool that would automatically blur faces in the videos that they upload. This feature could be extremely useful in concealing the identities of the people.

This website which was merely a online video storage portal for home-shot videos, YouTube has grown into a large media for a variety of uses, particularly music, news and even movies these days. There have been many videos that have been of grave importance posted on YouTube like the Tsunami in Japan, 2011, which was a citizen journalism footage. This was also among the most watched videos on the website according to Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism.

The Syrian conflict and the rebellions by the people have also been posted online but the identities of the protestants were revealed in the video which could pose a threat to their lives which actually defeats the purpose of the videos being posted online, gaining popularity and publicity to the rebellions.

YouTube in a blog post has said that it is now possible to share sensitive videos without revealing the identities of the people and that it is the inception of promoting visual anonymity in videos on YouTube. The original copy without the blur can be deleted by the user or kept private.
YouTube added that it was proud to be the most popular website where millions gather to share the videos and benefit from it.
