Amazon had become an instant hit with the people with its first e-book reader kindle. Later the company released Kindle Fire that created a sensation in the world of tablets. According to sources, it has been confirmed that Amazon is now planning to enter the smartphone segment to create another sensation.

Bloomberg reports claimed that Amazon would soon be in the market with Andriod based smartphones. Foxconn, the major manufacturer of iPhones would be involved in the manufacture of andriod phones for Amazon too.

However, the difficulty lies in securing the carriers to provide the service for the phones. Amazon did not face this difficulty with the tablets and other kindle products as it could buy cellular services in bulk. But the services required for the smartphone are largely different and hence it wouldn't be that easy.

Also, the competition it has to survive is vast. With already established marketers like Samsung, HTC and Apple among many others, the question is – Can Amazon attract enough people to its smartphone segment?

Can it still play the price game, just as it did with the Kindle Fire, to withstand the forces in the market? We will have to wait and see.
