Mahindra calls back 25,000 XUV 500s

XUV 500 is one of the finest and highest selling SUV's in the nation but it is human to err. One batch of these SUV's which have been produced in between 2011 and 2012 were considered faulty at a level. Mahindra and Mahindra has ensured that there would be a preventive replacement for these vehicles and recalled them. The parts of the car that would receive replacement would be fluid hose, front power window and the left wiper blade covers.

Other than that technically the cars were completely fine. Over 25,000 XUV 500s are included in the batch. M&M added that they would make the replacements free of cost to these customers and that they would be called by the company for the replacements starting immediately.

Vehicle recalling in India is a relatively newer trend. Earlier, the faults were left unattended by the manufacturing companies and the customers had to bear any repair charges. The companies were worried that such public announcement would malign their own reputation. On the contrary, people have understood this as a part of customer safety and embraced the approach positively. However, India is still far behind in admitting the faulty vehicles in generic problem cases as opposed to western nations.
