TATA Group to replace Vivo as IPL Sponsor:- Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo has been named as the Title Sponsor for IPL and TATA Group will now replace Vivo for the next year's Indian Premiere League, told IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel. Vivo has two years of the contract left with IPL and TATA will remain as the main sponsor during this period told Brijesh Patel. The clearance was given after a meeting of the IPL Governing Council was held today. The new teams of Lucknow and Ahmedabad are given time for the player signing before the auction for the players will take place. Vivo paid Rs 2200 crore for the rights of the Title Sponsorship from 2018-2022.

The recent Galwan Valley military attacks brought the relations between India and China at risk. Dream 11 replaced Vivo after the attack took place. But Vivo returned back as the title sponsor in 2021 and they were looking for a suitable bidder to transfer the rights. With the addition of two new teams, IPL 2022 will have ten teams playing for the trophy. Lucknow team was bagged for the highest bid of Rs 7090 crores and Ahmedabad was bagged for Rs 5625 crores. The Mega auction for the players for the year will take place in Bengaluru during the second week of February. The IPL franchises announced the list of their retained players in November.
