BCCI prefers IPL 2021 over T20 World Cup

BCCI prefers IPL 2021 over T20 World Cup:- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is keen to complete the IPL 2021 which came to a halt due to the second wave of coronavirus and alarming situations in the country. The IPL 2021 is rescheduled and is expected to start in the United Arab Emirates in September and will complete by October. BCCI is keen to avoid a clash between the IPL 2021 and the ICC T20 World Cup. ICC is keen to take over the stadiums for World Cup by 1st October this year. Now to avoid the clash, BCCI is in talks with Sri Lanka informally to host the T20 World Cup matches. BCCI is holding talks and is finding out if Sri Lanka can host a T20 World Cup in their country considering the current situation.

As per the update coming, IPL 2021 will commence from September 17th and the final will take place on October 10th. The T20 World Cup will start on October 18th. As per the rules and the guidelines of ICC, the venues must be handed over to ICC 15 days prior to the matches. India wanted UAE to host the tournament but IPL will not be completed before October 1st. The players are not ready to play T20 World Cup in India considering the wave of coronavirus cases. To save IPL 2021, BCCI is in talks with Sri Lankan Cricket Board to host T20 World Cup. Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) are keen to hold both IPL 2021 and T20 World Cup.
