Kidambi Srikanth To Become AP Deputy Collector:- A deputy collector-rank job in the Andhra Pradesh government, would soon be offered to Shuttler Kidambi Srikanth (24). He is currently in the limelight for his several international victories.

Andhra Pradesh Information Minister K Srinivasulu, addressing media persons after a cabinet meeting, said that they had made the decision to offer Srikanth a job. Besides this, a reward of Rs 2 crore was also announced for the shuttler. Srikanth originally hails from Guntur district in the State.

After winning the French Open earlier this week, ace shuttler Kidambi Srikanth became the first Indian to win four Superseries titles in a calendar year. To win the men’s singles title at the French Open Superseries, Srikanth beat Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in straight games. The Superseries was held on Sunday. With this game, he also became the first Indian to win the French Open.

“I am very happy with the way it has been for me. I wasn't really thinking of winning. When I went there, I was just thinking to play well and give my best. I was not really thinking about the records,” Srikanth.

After Olympics badminton silver medalist PV Sindhu, Srikanth would be the second shuttler to do so, if he takes up the job of a Deputy Collector in Andhra. In August this year, Sindhu had assumed charge at the office of Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA). On July 29, the appointment letter to Sindhu was handed over by the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The state government appointed Sindhu as Group-I officer later.

A Bill amending the State Public Services Act was passed by the State legislature in May, to appoint Sindhu as a Group-I officer in the government.

The Andhra Pradesh (Regulation of Appointments to Public Services and Rationalization of Staff Pattern and Pay Structure) Act, 1994, has to be amended by the government, as any recruitment in public services has to be only through the State Public Service Commission, selection committee or employment exchange.
