Sonia Gandhi - Goddess or Godse to Democracy ?

Telangana, a long lasting wish of people and leaders of this region. Many political parties promised before elections that they would support the separate cause however have dejected the issue later owing political gains. Bharatiya Janata Party went to elections in the year 1999 with “one vote and two states” slogan but after the elections, it was kept under the mat as they had alliance with Telugu Desam Party.

Telangana issue has been haunting the Congress party majorly since KCR's hunger fast in the year 2009. On December 09 same year, Congress initiated the process of Telangana. But the other region of Andhra Pradesh were against the decision and about 225 MLAs resgined against the decision. Later Congress appointed Sri Krishna Committee to take its own time reviewing about creation of state.

In 2013 July the Congress Working Committee [CWC] took the decision of creation of Telangana. This is a major step as CWC is the Congress highest decision making authority. After consulting AP CM Kiran, Deputy CM Damodara, PCC Chief Botsa, CWC zeroed upon Telangana creation. But the consequence went out of hand since then in Seemandhra region as well as the politicians of both regions got separated on regional lines.

Sonia Gandhi decision:

AP CM Kiran was very much against decision and defied party's stand in several meetings. But then as it was Sonia Gandhi decision, Kiran did not even meet her once since the CWC decision and kept on talking against the bifurcation inspite of getting warnings from High command.  Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu has been accusing Sonia Gandhi in this whole issue. He claimed Sonia Gandhi led Congress party did following the Constitution of India and Fedral Rules in the bifurcation process.

On the Telangana, leaders of this region say Sonia Gandhi has kept her words and so she is being treated as Goddess now. Though the credit should go to TRS party for its immense struggle for the past  13 years, Sonia Gandhi was the one who granted it as decisions are made at national level and they matter a lot. TRS has proved to be the king maker for it while Sonia Gandhi stands above all.

While in Seemandhra region, Congress has been facing the heat of public ever since the exist of Jagan Mohan Reddy. Sonia Gandhi and the Congress high command were not in favor of granting the chief minister post to YS Jagan after his father YSR's death and this irked the leader and walked out of the Congress party. Since then Congress lost the track in this region and few MLAs also resigned to the party in favor of Jagan, they lost in the by-elections too. Congress party knew that it has no scope in the Seemandhra region as Jagan and his father's death sentiment factors are waving all over, however Congress identified that Jagan doesn't have enough popularity in Telangana region and wanted to make use of this so that atleast it would remain in power in one region. And so the decision to create Telangana came though many say they held many consultation process for it and also appointed a committee for it.

The influence of Sonia Gandhi decision made the difference and not bothering about the leaders [Seemandra], she and the government went ahead with the bifurcation process. Today Sonia Gandhi is likely to speak on the Telangana issue and it is going to be a very interesting one as political analysts are curious about her speech. She hardly visited the state and what kind of speech would she deliver is something which every citizen of Andhra Pradesh should look upto.
