NASA's Diwali picture keeps false ones aside

Year after year we had seen many pictures posted by pramsters showing how this wonderful nation looked from the skies while celebrating Diwali night. Most of such pictures were coloured ones which were just tinkered geographical population charts. However this time it was diffrerent NASA has released an exact picture that was shot using an infra red camera and the visual was in black and white, yet awesome.

This was how our city looked like, from the Suomi NPP satellite on November 12, this year while we were busy celebrating the Diwali. According to sources from NASA the photo was taken from the satellite using the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS).

The moment the image found its way into the social network it became viral pushing aside the coloured ones which were mostly posted to amuse social networkers. The coloured image was shot in 2003, by the Operational Linescan System of the US Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellites, defining the population in each of the metros. On the other hand the latest one is the original celebrations seen from the skies.
