DJ held, drugs seized

With cosmopolitan culture fast catching up across India, the concept of DJ replaced the traditional ways of beating stress. However, there were reports that many a time drugs (narcotic substances) were supplied at many DJ parties. A similar incident came to light when 'Anti Narcotic Cell' (ANC) busted a 23-year-old professional disc jockey (DJ) in Goa recently. According to the police, the accused R Mohana Sundaram was a student of audio and sound engineering besides a professional disc jockey.

The police said that during the primary interrogation, the accused revealed he hailed from an affluent family and performed various discos and musical nights in Goa. The police seized narcotic substances from this person, which was worth eight lakh rupees. The DJ was produced before the First Class Judicial Magistrate (JFMC) and the court remanded him to the police custody for further investigation. It may be noted that the police got information from reliable sources that this DJ was allegedly carrying narcotics. Therefore,  they raided the place and found 451 LSD papers, 14.1 grams of ketamine besides 3.3 grams of charas. Also, some cash and a mobile phone was recovered from him.

The DJ was booked under Sections 20 (b) (ii) (A)and 22 (c) of NDPS ACT, 1985. In the pretext of cosmopolitan culture, one is harming not only the health but also the culture by indulging in such acts. Lets put an end to this and say no to drugs.
