As I write about schools the only syllable that is 3D, this simply means  Discipline, Determination and Dedication. But are these institutes adhering to the fundamentals, is accusation that lingers in the minds of the parents. With growing incidents of corporal punishments and reprimands turning up at schools the whole affect of 3D is distraught feel most public. Wierd incidents like a girl stripped for not wearing uniform, another 5-year-old being locked up in a room for doing mischief and what not is happening across the nation.

Well Hyderabad is not far off either there are incidents occuring in city schools too. Plastering the mouths of students found talking to each other also turned out to be a common practice at one of the private schools, but of course for not more than 15 to 20 minutes. The issue is right now in the legal scanner. Corporal punishment is being practiced in different forms by teachers and is rampant across many schools. However the government schools are refraining with fear to loose the jobs.

Gone are those days of Guru-Shishya parampara and the modern educational atmosphere talks more about being friendly. But the old still preach `spare the stick..spoil the child..' how far this is true is the best way for all of us to consider, to take this system forward. (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
