50 Stray Dogs Poisoned and Burnt in Chennai

Shocking! In a bizzar incident, around 50 stray dogs were killed in a village near to Chennai.

The incident came to light when a villager reported this to an animal activist, P Aswath, He said that villagers of Keezhamur village near Melmaruvathur fed stray dogs with pesticide mix food and later burnt them.

Aswath reported the incident to Melmaruvathur Police which did not take him seriously initially. Four village locals namely Murali, Muthu, Murugadoss and Jeeva were subsequently registered in the case.

The villagers, in their defence, stated that the dogs injured the grazing sheep and goats. They even said that some of their cattle died due to dog bites later. Smelling dishonesty, Aswath denied their claims.

He, on the contrary, claims to “have evidence to prove that more than 50 dogs were killed in the village.”

Aswath found no traces of injured sheep or goats. He added that “the dogs were poisoned and doused with kerosene before being set on fire.”

He further found half-burnt and decomposed dogs after which he collected them all and burnt them properly.

This isn’t the first time something like this happened. In Kolkata a similar incident happened where dogs were murdered because they looked ‘ugly’. Even in Mumbai a butcher served poisoned meat to 15 dogs.

Has humanity died? How can a person kill animals who can’t even speak? The dogs which were killed could have been taken care by giving them to dog catchers.Burning them alive is the most disturbing thing that could be witnessed.
