Blood Donation now at your Doorstep

Andhra Pradesh Vydya Vidhana Parishad will be implementing a new system for blood donations. A vehicle will be sent to the blood donors’ doorsteps soon to collect blood in West Godavari district.

District Coordinator of Health Services (DCHS) K Shankara Rao MLC and District Government Hospital Development Committee chairman Ramu Surya Rae inaugurated the blood donation camp at the hospital on World Blood Donor Day on Tuesday.  

The DCHS along with ophthalmologist AS Ram, medical, police, RTC personnel and social workers donated blood at the camp.

Speaking at the Blood Donor Day meeting, the DCHS said that “many people were voluntarily coming forward to donate blood. However, they do not know where to go to donate blood. In view of this position, the Government had sanctioned a special vehicle with a cost of Rs 23 lakh to collect the blood from at the donor’s house. Soon this vehicle would be made available to the public.”

He added “ the blood donors might donate blood at their houses or at workplace whenever the vehicle reached their selected point.  He called upon the people to donate blood to save lives and anyone could donate blood without any doubts. He clarified that it was not correct to say that the donor might get weakness after donating blood.”  

District Medical and Health Officer S Vijayagowry, ophthalmologist AS Ram, Hospital Superintendent AVR Mohan, District Police Officers Welfare Association president K Nagaraju and others spoke on the occasion.

MLC Suryarao felicitated the blood donors on the occasion. Hospital doctors Shyam Kumar, Rambabu, T Ramamohan Rao, Nursing Superintendent Esteru Rani, RTC Regional Manager Dhanunjaya Rao and others participated in the programme.
