Aircraft to be broken into 5 parts

Central Training Establishment of Air India, has finally decided to dismantle the aircraft and take it to its premises.

Durga Cranes, which was shifting the exercise, has no gas cutters or other equipment. After the accident, they started searching for the dismantling equipment.

Speaking on the issue, a senior official from Air India said, “The aircraft will now be dismantled into five parts and transported. Air India officials will assess the situation after the aircraft is dismantled and take a decision.”

Reportedly, the cost of dismantling equipment and transporting the aircraft, is nearly Rs. 50 lakh. The dismantling works have started last night and would be transported by today morning.

As of now, it is not clear, as to who gave the permission to transport the entire aircraft. Speaking about this, Air India CTE director Soman Atul said they had applied to the Ranga Reddy district collector and all permissions were in place from the southern discom, law and order and traffic police. But the district collector said they had only applied, permission was not given.

“It is true that the Air India CTE management approached us and we forwarded the application to all the departments concerned seeking their response,” Ranga Reddy collector M. Raghunandan Rao said adding that the local tahsildar has been asked to report.

Further, N. Prakash Reddy, North Zone DCP, said that, they received information only on Saturday about the transporting of the aircraft. ACP (Traffic-I) A. Muthyam Reddy said, as per his knowledge, permissions were taken at the top level. Discom assistant engineer Suresh said, engineers had accompanied the crane.

It is known that a crane carrying an Air India plane, crashed on the boundary wall of a club near Hyderabad's Begumpet airport yesterday and fortunately no one were injured in it.

Speaking on it, an official said, the aircraft was being moved out of the airport hangar to a training academy at 7 am, when the crane lost its balance and collapsed.

The 200-ton crane crashed on the compound wall of a club near a school on the old airport road.

"An old hull stationed at Old Begumpet airport was being moved from the Air India hangar for training purposes," said a statement released by the flag carrier.

A gap was made in the airport boundary wall to allow the truck carrying the crane to move the aircraft from the airport to the training establishment three kilometers away.
