Kapus violence in Tuni: Latest developments

The violence caused due to Kapu garjana in Tuni had damaged Rs. 103 crore worth public properties, including railway, police and other government properties.

Out of Rs. 103 crore, only Ratnachal express train damage accounted to Rs. 20 crores. 9000 people used to utilize this train services on a regular basis. But all such travelers are now facing severe problems.

As of now, the police officials identified 250 people involved in this violence related activities. About 50 cases are filed on all such people, including Kapu organization Chief, Mudhragada Padmanabham.

Not just the public properties, even 15 police officials were also injured. If not for the strategic restraint by police, the issue may have panned out into the potential caste rift,  and could cause law and order issue, across the state.

Currently, 144 section is still prevailing in Tuni, suspecting the tragic incidents. Especially, the issue went more viral, after Venkataramana Murthy alias Suribabu, a guy from Kakinada committed suicide yesterday, blaming the government for the failure of inclusion of Kapus in BCs and also for the special status.

On the other hand, BCs, who are against the Kapus agitation in Andhra Pradesh, have decided to approach Collectorate tomorrow, conducting a rally.

This move from BCs is creating more tight rift between the castes. It would really be a challenge to take a decision on the issue, balancing both sides of the coins.

It should be seen, how the government keeps up its promise, by including Kapus into BCs, without disturbing the benefits, the latter caste get.
