NTR name creates a storm

The Union Civil Aviation Ministry's decision of naming the domestic terminal of Shamshabad airport has created a huge storm in the Telangana Assembly. With the oppositions demanding for a debate over this issue, the government has accepted to an open discussion. The Telangana Congress party has seriously opposed this decision and demanded a roll back of it. Jana Reddy, Jeevan Reddy spoke on behalf of the Congress and urged the state government to bring a resolution on this in the House.

Responding to the Congress party's views, Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao said it is a sensitive issue and describe it is an unfortunate incident as the Union government failed to consult the state government before taking any decision. Further KCR recommended that the label of Shamshabad Airport should not be changed and if at all it is necessary, the Aviation Ministry should hold talks with State government.

Later, the Speaker held a BAC meeting however, Telangana TDP and MIM parties skipped this meeting. T-TDP leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao said, if at all the decision is incorrect and many leaders opine that NTR is an outsider, then Rajiv Gandhi name should also be reconsidered. We support the Union government decision and let the domestic terminal be rename after NTR. However, despite all the debate, a resolution was moved by government against the Union government's decision.

Senior T-TDP leader Mothukapalli said he would sit on hunger strike from tomorrow, demanding the government to take back the decision.
