The main accused in Delhi gang rape case, Ram Singh, has committed suicide at Tihar jail this morning at 5. The media apparently learned that the accused allegedly ended up his life in jail in the early hours of Monday. Since he was found hanging in cell number 3, the police suspected that the accused might have hung himself to neck till death. The body has been shifted to Deendayal Hospital for post mortem.

It may be recalled that the accused along with five others allegedly gang raped a medical student in the late evening of December 16 following which they threw her out-along with her male companion without clothes-on the road. Although she was shifted to hospital and even air lifted to Singapore for better treatment, she closed her eyes after she developed multiple organ failure due to septicemia.

Ram Singh, who committed suicide this morning, was the driver of the bus which the victim and her friend boarded on that unfortunate evening.
